Stories of Peace

书名:Stories of Peace

作者:Shen Chyang

简介:Peace and development are two eternal themes, especially so in today’s world when global peace is placed in serious jeopardy by terrorism in its various manifestations: religious, socio-political and cultural. We are now living in the first decade of the twenty-first century, and the past five years has seen the eruption of a series of terrorist attacks across the world, the outbreak of the War on Iraq as well as the onslaught of the scary Avian Flu. What lies ahead for us all? Will peace and stability prevail eventually over bloody conflicts and the so-called clashes of civilizations?

Reading history makes us wise. Stories of Peace collects a host of stories expounding the primary significance of social and global peace. Selected from Chinese, Indian, Western and other cultures, these stories will surely deepen our understanding of a fact — peace is an everlasting shared goal of all human beings regardless of their heterogeneous racial backgrounds, cultural traditions and geographical locations.

Education in peace is never a dated subject, yet how to conduct it effectively is an entirely different subject. Stories of Peace represents a successful experimentation in this regard by combining interesting stories with vivid illustrations, a style that appeals to all age groups, especially school children.
